This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Site Services ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Dirtroads.io website and web app (the "Service").

The short version. Dirtroads.io is built privacy-first. There are no user accounts. Your location is used on your device to show the map and is not sent to us. Your saved maps, routes, and settings stay in your browser's local storage. We don't run ad trackers and we don't sell your data.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

No accounts. You don't create an account or give us your name to use the Service.
Your location stays on your device. When you enable GPS, your position is used locally in your browser to center the map and guide navigation. We do not receive, store, or track your location.
Your saved data is local. Saved routes, offline map tiles, road notes, and preferences are stored in your browser (IndexedDB / local storage) on your device, not on our servers.
No advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not use advertising networks or sell or rent personal information.

2. Information Processed to Run the Service

To make the app work, your device communicates directly with a few service providers. This necessarily involves your device's IP address and the map areas you request, which those providers process under their own privacy policies:

We may keep standard server logs for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. These are not used to build profiles of you.

3. Payment Information

If you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe through RevenueCat. You enter your card details directly with the payment processor — we never receive or store your full card number. To manage your subscription across devices, RevenueCat assigns an anonymous identifier that is stored locally on your device; it is not tied to your real-world identity by us. 4. Email You Send Us

If you email support@dirtroads.io, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and use them only to respond to and support you.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies. The Service uses your browser's local storage and IndexedDB to remember your preferences and to store maps and routes for offline use. You can clear these at any time from within the app ("Clear saved maps & road data") or through your browser settings.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Your Choices & Rights

Location: grant or revoke location access at any time in your browser/OS settings.
Local data: clear your saved maps, routes, and notes from the app or your browser settings.
Subscription data: contact support@dirtroads.io for help with, or deletion of, subscription records held by our payment processors.
Depending on where you live (e.g., California's CCPA or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access or delete personal information. Because we hold very little, most requests can be satisfied by clearing local data; for anything held by our processors, email us and we will assist.

8. Data Retention & Security

We retain only what is necessary: server logs for a limited period, and subscription records for as long as required for accounting and legal compliance. We use reasonable safeguards (including HTTPS) to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. By using it, you understand that information processed by our providers may be handled in the United States and other countries.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
